The Grow & Learn Program

If you are involved in your child's personal, social and academic life and are consciously guiding him or her toward goals and a lifetime of accomplishment, friends and growth, you and your child need to know about Grow and Learn!

The Grow and Learn program builds successful young people in and out of the classroom by showing your child how to:

• Learn HOW he learns.
• Get through homework without the drama.
• Adapt to different teaching methods.
• Prepare for tests effectively and successfully.
• Own responsibility for outcomes in and out of the classroom.
• Know and own her goals.
• Plan his life, academically and otherwise.
• Improve her grades.
• Get “stuff” done on time.
• Get motivated and stay interested.
• Get along with peers, teachers and family.
• Meet challenges.
• Experience less stress and, in turn be more productive.
• Be happy!

Grow & Learn's Curriculum Outline

This 15-hour program immerses students at all grade levels in strategies to develop productive academic and life skills.  The following curriculum is adapted for each grade level and covers these key areas:

• Academic Success. Life as a student dramatically improves when the student acquires study and test-taking skills; develops his individual learning style; finds his most effective approach to study; learns how to manage time, take notes and organize his school life.
  
  
• Reading Skills. Reading school tex books requires a different approach for success. Your student will learn valuable reading methods to increase comprehension.
  
  
• Writing Skills. Your student will learn how to write a well organized paragraph, and will be taught an efficient method to master ELA State Exams, Regents English and Global History exams.
  
  
• Memory Strategies. Your student will learn powerful strategies, such as the use of acronyms, a peg system and acrostics.  She'll learn memory strategies that she can personalize for consistent growth.
  
  
• Relationships With Adults in Authority. Your child will learn how to connect to those in charge -- and how to create healthy relationships with them that can help her reach academic and life goals in and out of the classroom.
  
  
• Goals and Beliefs.  Your child will learn how to create the life he wantst with supporting beliefs in life, others and self.
  
  
• Brain Power. The student will learn how to open up to her unlimited capacity and get control of the powerful servant that is the brain to live an accomplished, happy life.
  
  
• Responsibility. Your student will see how to take charge of and own his academic and life outcomes by learning the three most common traps of avoiding responsibility.
  
  
• Parent Support. You will learn how to provide continued support of your child’s growth through weekly emails regarding the curriculum.
